Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) is a perennial branched plant, usually conical in shape, 0.5–2 m high, rarely 2.5 m. The stem is leafy throughout its height, erect, brownish with a purple tint. Rhizome is multi-headed or short-creeping, thickened in the upper part. The leaves are green, bare or slightly pubescent, densely pubescent below, whitish and even silvery. The flowers are small, numerous, yellow or brownish. Baskets are erect, collected in a loose panicle inflorescence. Mugwort blooms from July to September. The fruit is the achene.
