TIP: Putty Starts Out Hard... The Key Is Emulsification! Putty, like most styling aids, is heat activated. This means you have to emulsify the product before applying. Straight out of the jar it may seem a bit stiff, but don’t worry, this is exactly the way it should be. Simply use your finger to scoop out the desired amount (only need a bit), then rub the product into your hands. You’ll notice the stiffness fades away, making the product the perfect consistency to style with. When Putty becomes completely translucent, you know it’s ready to rock!
